Ignition
The ignition system has evolved from a purely mechanical system generating spark from a central coil and distributing it to the proper spark plugs to a highly sophisticated coil per plug system. With that comes the need for cost effective and reliable coil drivers that can at least protect themselves or at most provide a high level of feedback for adaptive dwell algorithms and coil protection. ST’s ignition coil drivers do that and more with simple devices that provide logic level input capability and current limit protection to complex devices with multiple current level flags, soft shutdown protection and much more.
