Freescale 公司的MCF523x系列是采用V2 ColdFire微架构的32位微处理器,具有16路或32路增强时间处理单元(eTPU),64KB SRAM, 2组SDRAM 控制器,四路带专用DMA的32位计时器,  4路 DMA 控制器,多达两个 CAN 模块, 3 个UART和一个 SPI,特别适合通用工业控制,制造设备以及机器人等应用。本文介绍了MCF523x系列的主要性能,方框图以及ColdFire M523xEVB 评估板的主要性能和主要的电路图。

The MCF523x is a family of highly-integrated 32-bit microcontrollers based on the V2 ColdFire microarchitecture. Featuring a 16 or 32 channel eTPU, 64 Kbytes of internal SRAM, a 2-bank SDRAM controller, four 32-bit timers with dedicated DMA, a 4 channel DMA controller, up to 2 CAN modules, 3 UARTs and a queued SPI, the MCF523x family has been designed for general purpose industrial control applications. It is also a high-performance upgrade for users of the MC68332. This document provides an overview of the MCF523x microcontroller family, as well as detailed descriptions of the mechanical and electrical characteristics of the devices.

The MCF523x family is based on the Version 2 ColdFire reduced instruction set computing (RISC) microarchitecture operating at a core frequency of up to 150 MHz and bus frequency up to 75 MHz.
The MCF5235 ColdFire Integrated Microprocessor combines the popular Version 2 ColdFire core with a 16-channel enhanced Time Processing Unit (eTPU), a 10/100 Ethernet MAC and other communications peripherals along with Hardware-Accelerated Encryption. The mix of functionality on the MCF523x family addresses increasing application complexity requiring more system throughput as well as networked applications that require a high level of communications security.
Providing up to 144 (Dhrystone 2.1) MIPS at 150MHz, this cost-effective controller enables networked and stand-alone complex real-time control applications such as industrial control, manufacturing equipment and robotics.

The family of MCF523x devices also provides current users of the MC68332 with a natural migration path to higher performance and/or networking support while enabling a new generation of products with increased functionality at a similar price point to more mature generations.

ColdFire M523xEVB 评估板性能介绍
The ColdFire M523xEVB evaluation board is intended to provide a mechanism for easy customer evaluation of the MCF523x family of ColdFire microprocessors and to facilitate hardware and software development. The EVB can be used by software and hardware developers to test programs, tools, or circuits without having to develop a complete microprocessor system themselves.

The heart of the evaluation board is the MCF5235, all other MCF523x family members have a subset of the MCF5235 specification and can therefore be fully emulated using the MCF5235 device.
The ColdFire M523xEVB evaluation board is intended to provide a mechanism for easy customer evaluation of the the MCF523x family of ColdFire microprocessors and to facilitate hardware and software development.  The EVB can be used by software and hardware developers to test programs, tools, or circuits without having to develop a complete microprocessor system themselves.  

The heart of the evaluation board is the MCF5235, all other MCF523x family members have a subset of the MCF5235 specification and can therefore be fully emulated using the MCF5235 device.
The EVB enables low cost software testing with the use of a ROM resident debug monitor, dBUG, programmed into the external Flash device. Operation allows the user to load code in the on-board RAM, execute applications, set breakpoints, and display or modify registers or memory.  No additional hardware or software is required for basic operation.
