![]() The most popular method of interconnecting broadcast equipment is with the Serial Digital Interface (SDI). This interconnect standard is specified by the Society of Motion and Picture Television Engineers (SMPTE). The two standards that define SD-SDI are SMPTE 259M and SMPTE 344M. In order to support enhanced cable length while still maintaining signal quality, a reclocking distribution amplifier is needed. Distribution amplifiers are designed to support all SDI data rates and typically offer automatic cable equalization, reclocking, and fanout to drive a number of output cables.
